Help for a More Regular Plan of Daily Time with God
As a church family who wants to share the love and good news of Jesus to those around us, we need to be growing in our love and friendship with Jesus ourselves. As we believe God speaks to us, one key way we can be doing this is by spending time each day reading His Word, the Bible. There are a variety of ways to help us with this, here are a few ideas below.
Do speak to Chris or Joanna if you would like to find out more, we’d love to chat to you.

In Quietness &Trust by Mike Searles View in side
Early in his ministry, Jesus gave his followers a description of how he wants his people to live. Rather than seeking to ascend to God, Christian discipleship is a downward flourishing; a counter-cultural way of blessing.
These 40 devotions, with a daily reading and short reflection, will guide you through the beatitudes Jesus gave in the Sermon on the Mount. This Easter, join Jesus on his path to the cross, and see that his way – though so different to the way of the world – leads to freedom, joy, and life. This book has eight groups of five devotions, with each group focusing on the theme of one of the beatitudes from Matthew’s gospel. Each day there is a verse or passage from Scripture with an accompanying devotion, a prayer and a song. The songs can be found online, but you can also find them on a Spotify playlist called ‘In Quietness and Trust – Lent Playlist’.

It’s easy to lose heart in a world where many things can and do go wrong. Life is difficult, and there are struggles within and without, but we can take heart the Lord is with us. He hears our cries for mercy. He knows our every need. He guides us, helps us, and strengthens us with his mighty right arm. Journey through a year with David Powlison, learning to “take heart” by meditating on his favourite Scripture passages, hymns, and biblical themes, exploring the ways God meets us with daily grace right where we live.
Drawn from David Powlison’s many decades of writing, teaching, and speaking, Take Heart is a yearlong devotional journey into the process of biblical change, where truth becomes clearer and our ears hear and our eyes see what God tells us about himself. Learn to go to God for the help you need and hold fast to the daily mercy and grace he offers. And be reminded the promises of God are true and that the resurrection of Jesus guarantees that no matter what you may be facing, you can live in real hope.
CHARACTER OF JESUS
As we look to become more like Jesus, the following books and the podcast focus on the character of Jesus and how we can change to become more like Him. Why not try them?
Do speak to Chris or Joanna if you would like to find out more, we’d love to chat to you.

Gentle and Lowly by Dane Ortlund
In his best-selling book, Gentle and Lowly, Dane Ortlund takes readers into the depths of Christ’s very heart for sinners. Focusing on Jesus’s words that he is “gentle and lowly in heart,” Ortlund dives deep into Bible passages that speak of who he is, encouraging readers with the affections of Christ for his people.

Delighting in Jesus by Asheritah Ciuciu
For many Christians, “daily devotions” and “spiritual disciplines” strike guilt and shame in our hearts. But what if we got it all wrong? What if our Christian experience hinges not on perfect spiritual disciplines, but on the perfect love of a Father who delights in us?
In Delighting in Jesus, Bible teacher Asheritah Ciuciu invites you to lift your gaze from your to-do list and get to know the One who spun the stars and knows you by name.
Discover the theological foundation for how we were Created for Delight. You’ll see that throughout Scripture, joy originates from God, pulses at the heart of the gospel, and is promised to us as fruit from God’s Spirit.
By considering three Robbers of Delight, you’ll trade those things that steal your joy to receive Jesus’ personal invitation to a life of joy with Him—not just someday in heaven, but starting here and now on earth!
Finally, you’ll learn five practical Rhythms of Delight: joyful practices found in Jesus’ own life that increase our awareness of God’s presence with us, His delight in us, and our continual communion with Him. Forget about rigid formulas—these creative ideas will fit the rhythm of your modern life and lead to freedom to connect with God right where you are.
If you’re weary or disheartened, this book is for you. Come and drink from God’s river of delights and find in Him the desires of your heart.

Two Sisters and a Cup of Tea – PODCAST
And so, the season we’re about to start – on the Fruit of the Spirit – is the fruit of our prayers as we’ve sought wisdom on how best to guard our hearts in it all at the moment. It’s going to feel different – we’re not journeying through one book of the Bible from start to finish. Instead, we’ll be taking different portions of Scripture, as we seek first and foremost to gaze at Jesus. But in all of the difference, the core of what we’re doing this season remains the same. We’re opening the Bible, cups of tea in hand, and seeking to listen to what it says, driving it deeply to our hearts in the process. Will you join us as we do so? Whether you’re new around here or have been listening along for a while, we pray that it’s a fruitful season for all of us, as we seek to dwell deeply on what it is to be a follower of Jesus, displaying the fruit of His Spirit in our everyday lives.
