Sunday 8th June

The Church remembers the sending of the Holy Spirit according to the promise of Jesus and the word of the prophets. His arrival during the festival of Pentecost transformed the disciples, emboldening them to fulfil their commission to take the good news of Jesus from their doorstep to the ends of the earth. Indwelling the Church from that day on, the Holy Spirit has been at work, opening hearts to respond to the message, uniting people to Christ through the gift of faith, transforming lives through the word, the ‘sword’ of the Spirit, nurturing faithfulness and producing fruitfulness, binding disciples together into a unity of diversity, enabling perseverance, interceding for the saints and empowering the Church in mission. What a gift, no one less than God in us.
