We look forward to celebrating Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee after our morning services in which we will thank God for her faith during her reign.
Please invite a neighbour or a friend to enjoy the afternoon with us on the vicarage lawn. Please bring along your own picnic and remember to bring your picnic rugs and chairs! There will be limited seating available for those unable to bring their own.
We look forward to activities for all the church family to enjoy and aim for a ‘summer fair’ feel to the day!
News and Prayer Letter from our Mission Partner – Neema Children’s Home
Joshua and Miriam Mbithi who run Neema Children’s Home and School in Eldoret Kenya have been in touch with their latest news and prayer letter.
This month there is news of older children heading to college and high school, larger numbers at the Neema Primary School, a health update, Kenyan elections, and the weather, which plays such an important role in parts of the world where most people engage in subsistence living.
New Term Card – Church Matters
Our new term card has been released with details of services, sermons, events and more for the Summer stretching out ahead of us. Please do pick one up from one of our church buildings from Sunday and keep it somewhere handy to stay engaged with what we’re exploring as a community and to make sure you don’t miss any of our exciting Summer events.
Our series for the Summer term will see us explore God’s design for his church: who we are as a local expression of his great family united together in Christ, how our life is to be shaped by the headship of Jesus and how we’re to work out the mission he gave us as ‘the light of the world.’
This promises to be an encouraging series, that, God willing, will renew our vision for our life together and equip us further to be the dynamic community of grace we’re called to be.
Men’s Breakfast – Saturday 21st May
This is a great opportunity to meet with friends , enjoy a calorific treat, and introduce a friend who’ll discover we really are a friendly bunch (even if some seem to prefer red to blue). I can’t think of a gentler way to give opportunity to a friend to make, perhaps, a first step towards Jesus Christ. Please arrive at St Michaels at 8.45, we’ll eat at 9, and finish around 10.15/30. There is no charge, but donations will be accepted towards costs. As a bonus, our speaker will be our new vicar, Chris Slater – to be interviewed by Graham Hill. Please email barnstonbob@yahoo.com if you’re coming. Thanks, Bob Jarvis
News & Prayer Update from our Mission Partner – Sena & Jane Ounate-Lare in Caen, Normandy
Please click here for the full text of Sena & Jane’s latest prayer and news letter.
Headlines in this edition include news of time in Togo, an outreach week in April, and a Baptism course beginning soon.
Sena & Jane would appreciate ongoing prayer for all of the above and for the many international students in their church looking for summer employment and the refugees they are in contact with who are appealing or waiting news of asylum applications.
You can keep up to date with all the latest from all our Mission Partners on our mission partners page.
New Term of The Hub – Thursday 12th May
The Hub is our midweek gathering for fellowship and growing in discipleship together.
This term the Hub offers two streams. In the first we will explore themes from the ‘Church matters’ Sunday sermon series: an interactive opportunity to take a closer look at the biblical foundations of church family and to work out the implications for our life together as Christian community.
The second stream comprises a course called ‘the world we all want,’ an introduction to the Christian faith that takes in the grand sweep of the bible story. This course is suitable for those who are either new to Christianity or want to explore its claims, or those who would value the opportunity to revisit the building blocks of the faith. This would also be a good grounding for those interested in exploring confirmation.
Whichever stream you opt for, you will be made most welcome, we hope you will find both engaging and edifying. The Hub takes place after the prayer meeting, Thursdays 7:45-9:00pm at St Michael’s.

Request from our Mission Partner – Jess Parkhouse at CAP Wirral
Our Mission Partner CAP Wirral is seeking befrienders. Volunteering as befrienders is one way our church can bless our Mission Partner and be good news to the people of Wirral.
A befriender role is to be a friend to CAP clients. This could involve meeting for coffee, tea, lunch or just being a friend at the end of a phone. There is real value in being available to people in this way. It is an outworking of Jesus’ first and second commandments, “To love the Lord your God with all your heart, sould, mind and strength”, and to “Love your neighbour as yourself”.
If this is something you think you can help with or you would like to talk about other ways you can support thr work of CAP in Wirral then please contact Sam Brassey. You can be put in contact with Sam via the Church Office on 0151 648 2404.

Easter Egg Hunt
What a fantastic event to be part of! The hall and garden were bursting with people, eggs, crafts, cakes and Easter joy! It was brilliant to host so many families from the local community on Easter weekend.
And everyone sat so well to hear the Easter story too – the big ‘keep-out’ curtain between us and God was torn in two! It’s such wonderful good news!
Do join us at church services and events to discover how this access to God works – we’d love to explore it with you!
